My First Masterpiece

I won't pretend to know the protocol for presenting art, but from what I've seen there's usually a title, a description of the media and materials used, and occasionally some commentary by the creator.

So here goes.

A Display Of Patriotism

I use the magnetic sign material to cover the base of the work and for the bases of the figures. I now have the freedom to re-arrange the figures should I stumble upon a revelation. It isn't perfect, as the material has a stronger attraction along certain orientations.

The inspiration I find in the inconsistency between what we are taught love of country means and how that love sometimes reveals itself.

Why This Blog Is

I hang out quite a bit at the Utrecht store near my job. I like it there. It's fun to browse.

I noted with some sadness that the store was starting to tout its' great prices. Price competition reminds me of someone bargaining with Death.

So the thought occurred that maybe a way to generate interest lies in finding a way for Utrecht's customers to show what they do with the stuff they buy.

Utrecht's website has a link to "Featured Artists" but I want to place for the scrubs to play. Art is not a spectator sport.

So here it is.

Let's keep the rules simple --

1) Your post must have a photo of the work.

2) Your work must use something bought from Utrecht Atlanta. Other cities can set up their own blog.

3) Comments must be civil. Certainly those who post lack technical proficiency and originality, but if you really want to impress me, stop dropping obscure art references and go create a new element. We only have 118.
